This adapter will allow you to connect to the proprietary non-ISO hotshoe found on recent Sony and Minolta flash units (see list below) to a Pocket Wizard, CyberSync or Elinchrom Skyport.
This cable provides reliable function, avoids the use of the unreliable PC connection, or stacking up PC and ⁄ or sync adapters that often results in misfiring. It is a direct sync link from the flash's hotshoe to the radio slave.
The hotshoe’s base is an aluminum extrusion with a ¼ inch - 20 threaded hole (see inset). This threaded hole allows direct connection to many popular flash brackets including the FlashZebra.Com Item #0041. Or the hotshoe can be placed on a common tripod for ad hoc light stand use.
So, this adapter solves two distinct problems in connecting popular radio slave units to the Sony ⁄ Minolta flash units for off camera use, a reliable miniphone plug sync connector, and the standard ¼ inch – 20 threaded hole for easy off camera mounting of the flash.
The connecting cord is coiled to accommodate a very flexible attachment of the radio slave.
