This Sonia Extended Range version has approximately 25% increased range over the standard range Sonia optical slave (yellow end cap).

This optical slave will work with most flash units, but the flash will need to accomodate a miniphone plug (3.5 mm) at the sync port or a connecting cord must be used.

This unit will NOT work with the Canon EX flash units.  See FlashZebra.com Item #0127 for a similar optical slave that will work with the Canon EX flash units.

This will NOT plug directly into the proprietary Vivitar or Sunpak sync connectors.

The triggering flash must not emit a pre-flash as this will prematurely fire the connected flash.

This device will immediately fire a connected flash unit when another flash burst is detected.  This allows a remote flash to be fired without any connecting wires.

It requires no batteries or other power; it runs off the flash unit it is connected to.  It works with both small, battery-powered flash units, and studio flash units.

Important Note: You must have some way to connect this optical slave to your flash unit.  One convenient way to connect is by using a mono miniphone coupler (F⁄F), such as FlashZebra.com Item #0076, and the appropriate adapter for your particular flash listed here.

This optical slave can be plugged directly into the FlashZebra.Com hotshoe adapters #0128 and #0135.

This optical slave can be plugged directly into a Pocket Wizard, in transmitter mode, to allow use of off camera flash for point and shoot cameras (that typically have no way to connect sync - no PC port, and no hotshoe).  The point and shoot must have a flash capable of manual mode that does not produce a preflash.

It is small, about ½ x ¾ x 1 inches (excluding the plug).  The slave and circuitry is encased in solid resin, so it is extremely rugged.
